The Nativity
Set is one of my favorite. I thought a lot about these pieces and I loved making them. I wanted Joseph with
his arm around his wife, Mary. I pictured Mary and Joseph down on their knees next to baby Jesus. Jesus has one of his
hands out of the swaddling cloth. I picture the shepherds a little dirty having just come from the fields to find Jesus. I
picture the wise men with a lot of riches and gold. I pictured Mary and Joseph in humble clothing. All the animals are laying
down because it is night and they are tired. The angel has some gold on her hair and dress. She is raised above the seen,
but not to far away. In other nativity scenes I noticed that the only way you can tell Joseph apart from the shepherds is
he has a staff and they have a cane. He has his staff along side of him. Mary and Joseph fit right next to baby Jesus although
they all are separate pieces. I tried to make the manger look like wood and the hay to look real as if it really were something
the animals eat out of. I am proud of these pieces. Em
